Distribution – Found in the dense evergreen forests in western ghats.
PLANT DESCRIPTION
A tall, unbranched monecious palm grows up to 5 meters in height. Leaves large, pinnately compound, leaflets up to 1 meter long,. Flowers seen in long (up to 4 feet) spadix inflorescence, unisexual, with male and female flowers in separate plants. Fruits globose, 2.3 * 3.5 cm pale green drupes; contain 2-3 oval seeds.
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Plant pacifies vitiated pitta, thirst, dyspepsia, diarrhea, menorrhagia, general debility, dehydration and renal diseases.
Useful part : Root, Liquor extracted from the flower stalk.
